HEARTFULLY, the First Charity Art Gallery in Romania
I recently had the pleasure of attending the opening of HEARTFULLY, the first charity art gallery in Romania, a new initiative launched by Fundatia Polisano in the historic center of Sibiu.
The project introduces a unique model that brings together contemporary art, healthcare, education, and community engagement.
Located on 9 Mai Street in Sibiu, HEARTFULLY functions not only as an exhibition space but also as a cultural hub dedicated to conversations around health, prevention, wellbeing, and social impact. The gallery was created as an extension of Fundația Polisano’s long-standing work supporting children with congenital heart diseases. Through its humanitarian programs, the foundation has helped facilitate life-saving cardiac surgeries for hundreds of children over the past decade.
I was honored to support this initiative by donating two of my artworks, which are now exhibited alongside works by artists from Romania, Switzerland, and the United States. The exhibition brings together a diverse selection of contemporary artworks, all contributing to a shared cause.
What makes HEARTFULLY particularly special is its charitable model. Works donated by artists and collectors become part of the gallery’s permanent collection, and proceeds from sales are directed toward funding medical treatments and cardiac surgeries for children supported by the foundation. At the same time, the project creates opportunities for participating artists through future exhibition programs and community engagement.
Beyond its exhibition activities, HEARTFULLY aims to become a meeting place where art serves as a catalyst for dialogue, education, and social connection. It is an inspiring example of how cultural initiatives can extend beyond the walls of a gallery and generate a tangible impact in people's lives.
